20 Years, Thankful to be still fixing those potholes.

Today, April 1, marks TAR, Inc.’s 20th anniversary. When I started the business, I thought “no matter what happens in the world there will always be potholes.” Today it’s proven to be very true. Even through recessions, oil crises', and wars, those potholes still needed to be fixed. TAR, Inc. has expanded its services to include all asphalt maintenance including sealcoating, striping, asphalt paving and repair. Through the years of change and growth, there are many things I’m thankful for.

I’m thankful for my excellent crew.  Many of our members have been with TAR, Inc. for most of those 20 years, some 19 of those 20 years.  I get many compliments on the professionalism and quality of work the crew provides.

I’m thankful for our vendors.  These vendors have been valuable partners in the success of TAR, Inc.  Through the highs and lows, our vendors have been with us through it all.  20 years ago, it was some of those vendors that extended a small line of credit to buy asphalt that helped get us started.

I’m thankful for our wonderful customers.  They have given us the opportunity to provide a service to them and have been loyal through our 20 years.  Our first customer is still an active customer to this day.  It’s an honor to still be of service to them.

I’m thankful for my family.  Without the moral and financial support, TAR, Inc. would not have existed.  When my family provided seed money to start the business, there was one repayment term, “To pass it on”.  20 years later, TAR, Inc. is still working hard to pass on the good fortune our company received.

Finally, I’m thankful for the great experience.  From the thrill of the first day of opening the doors, the ride has been exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.  The experience of running TAR, Inc. has given me a richer and deeper journey these past 20 years.  I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

As I sit reflecting on our 20 year anniversary, we are now planning the expansion and growth of TAR, Inc. for the next 20 years.  I’m thankful that we’ve had the last 2 decades of TAR, Inc. as a great foundation to grow.
